How can Kinesiology help with Trauma?

We are beginning to understand how trauma can affect the body as well as the mind.
A passage from The Body Keeps Score by Bessel Van Dee Kolk gives clarity on this new understanding:

Overwhelming experiences affect our innermost sensations and our relationship to our physical reality - the core of who we are.
We have learnt that trauma is not just an event that took place sometime in the past; it is also the imprint left by that experience on the mind and body. This imprint has ongoing consequences for how the human organism manages to survive in the present.
Trauma results in the way the mind and brain manages perceptions. It changes not only how we think and what we think about, but also our capacity to think.
The act of retelling a trauma event isn’t enough for a person, it doesn’t necessarily alter the automatic physical and hormonal responses of the body that remains hyper vigilant, prepared to fight or flight.
For real change to take place, the body needs to learn that the danger has passed and to live in the reality of the present.

☯︎ Kinesiology is a modality that helps empower a client to see a trauma response, how it is affecting their body, present moment and their everyday choices. As practitioners using body psychology, counselling, and various other techniques we facilitate the healing space for the client to release these trauma responses that are no longer serving them, in a safe environment.

As a Kinesiologist, I can support you to hear and realise your bodies wisdom.

☼ Reach out if you need a safe space to release what is no longer serving you.
